About AHH

Avigdor’s Helping Hand (“AHH”) has a twofold mission of providing (i) immediate, financial relief to families in our communities who have sustained the recent loss of the primary breadwinner and (ii) financial assistance to orphans who are getting married in the near future. Over the course of the past 15 years, AHH has provided over $10 million dollars to these neediest members of our community. AHH is a non-profit organization, and its board, steering and review committees are all volunteers. Any organizational expenses are privately sponsored, and accordingly, all donor money goes directly to assisting hundreds of widows and orphans across the United States, and across all spectrums of the community.

Loss of Breadwinner

AHH is often the first number that is dialed after the passing of a family’s primary breadwinner and there is no money to pay rent or to put food on the table. AHH is the only charity to do this, assisting immediately in paying rent and groceries for up to six months, providing a family in dire need with up to approximately $24,000 over the course of the first six months after death. Since its inception, AHH has stepped into to support over 350 families in dire need in communities throughout the United States, including the Tristate area, Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia.

Wedding Assistance

Since its inception, AHH has provided financial assistance to over 900 orphans in dire need who often have no where to turn for assistance in paying for even the most basic expenses of a wedding. AHH provides up to $7,500 per wedding, depending on circumstances. A sampling of some of the letters AHH received is posted on this site and portrays the enormous difference that AHH’s assistance made in allowing an orphan (and his/her surviving parent, if any) to have a respectable wedding on the most special day of their often difficult life.
